Default Need some advice on a h22a prelude!

Well, a friend of mine (well not really a friend) threw a rod bearing on his h22a prelude si.

Here is the history of the motor. A few weeks ago he mishifted from 3rd to 2nd and a slight tick sounded from motor. We told him to take it easy on the car and get it home. He drove it around and "now it will not start." i went to his house and push started it and it fired right up but there was a VERY loud rod knock. So we think he threw a rod bearing. BTW i checked his oil and it is totally black.

basically threw a rod bearing and will sell me complete car for $300.

Sould I buy it and fix the h22a then sell or just buy and swap original f22 and sell h22a with the knock?

if the rest of the car is worth a crap, buy it

you can have that engine rebuilt completely and still come out in the black

OK, well the car is being dropped off at my shop friday where we are going to pull the motor and replace; headgasket, rod bearings, inspect head for bent valves, etc. What else should be replaced? I want to keep this project under $200!

I am going to strip the block/head and hot tank the motor. I may attempt to polish the head while I have it appart. Any other things I should worry about?

$200 is not even enough for the gasket set...
