Paint repair pictures!!!
So I figured its about time you guys saw a little bit of my work on here...
I work by myself and I didn't have a lot of time to snap pictures because my services were requested late in the afternoon so I had to hurry before I ran out of natural daylight to work in. I normally don't do interior work but he wanted it done so that meant I had even less time to fool around with a camera so the before and after pictures are all I managed to snap. I will be detailing three more vehicles including a restored 68 Camaro this Thursday that belong to the same customer so expect more picures. I'll try to get more than just 'before and after' pics.
I start off by washing the vehicle from top to bottom and doing a full clay on horizontal panels and vertical panels if needed. I didn't do any wetsanding to the vehicle because the owner was not present at the time of detail. He does have some scratches on the passenger side that need touch up and I may be able to document this on Thursday during his next appointment.
This is an example of what I can do with a few simple supplies and a little time...
I use a Makita high speed rotary buffer with a syntheitc wool pad, a waffle foam pad and a black soft foam polishing pad. Then I follow up with a DeWalt electric DA used for applying final glaze/polish.
These are a few before photos:
She obviously needed some work.

This is after using a hard cutting compound and my wool pad on the deeper scratches, a meduim polish and a waffle pad on the entire truck, then the black polish pad with a polish. I finish the paint off with a final glaze using my Dewalt orbital buffer. Unfortunately I didn't have time to finish the vehicle before it was too late to take pictures. It was getting dark so I snapped some quick pictures of the finished paint repair before actually finishing the entire detail process. Here's the paint results:

These are my personal favorites. That's my car in the background/reflection. Its sitting about 20-25 feet away from the truck. I couldn't believe how clear it was from that distance.

After this is completed, I finish off by applying tire shine, cleaning the door jambs, cleaning the windows, and rub-polishing the chrome. I will be posting more on Thursday so expect more pics from me on this subject. Let me know what you think. I want honest opinions.

Thank you thank you. I was trying to do something like this a lot sooner but most of the people I work for are very private. They get all
when I whip out the camera. This customer wasn't home when I did his truck so I didn't have to worry about it. There will be much more to come within the next few weeks.

That seems strange - in most business (of any type!) where there is a "before" and an "after" that can speak to the work of a professional, I think it's relatively common to take the pics.
Then again, I guess it is the owner's prerogative, and if they don't want pics taken, then it's final!
Truck looks good!

Its a trust issue more than anything. If I had a shop for people to bring their cars to, then it would be fine. People are worried about others identifying their house and stealing their cars through the pictures I might take.
Its not a problem to me, though. I have enough to keep me busy so advertising hasn't been a necessity yet. This is my part time gig. However, I will be a sponsor on houston-imports.com by the end of this week so I can start spreading the word... it is a goal for this to be my main source of income within the next two years.
Thanks for the compliments!
