Default Identify block (b18cR)

i need some help this guy is selling a "B18C-R", but i noticed on the bottom of the block towards the back near the trans side it says p72

you be the judge

I also noticed that the block code numbers start with a 1. From what i was reading if it s a 1 its a gsr, if its a 2 its type r, but can anybody confirm this please?

JDM ITR has the block number that starts with 2xxxxxx.

I've went to numerous warehouses with JDM ITR motors and JDM GSR motors and all of the JDM ITR motors had the block number that began with 2. Also all the JDM GSR motors had the block number that began with 1.

*I could be wrong so don't take my word for it. It is just from personal experience.*</TD></TR></TABLE>

got that from this thread here

If it is an Si VTEC or SiR-G block it would also be stamped B18C.

I'm thinking that R blocks are stamped P73 intead of P72 like that one. I am not sure of that though.

Not in Japan, it's stamped B18C.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by The Lobster &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Si vtec??? that would be b16...SiR-G block? wtf is goign on here!</TD></TR></TABLE>

I'm talking about the 94-95 JDM Integra Si VTEC and the 96+ JDM Integra SiR-G.

The block in question is not USDM.

Holy crap guys comon here, in Japan there is NEVER a number after the letter, B18C can mean R or GSR, you need to look at the casting number at this point P72=GSR, P73=R

B18C5 is the noth american version of the JDM B18CR

The GSR (SiR-G/Si VTEC) and ITR bare shortblocks are EXACTLY the same.

Lobster for someone sounding confident and consescending towards others you need to check your "facts" first.

FACT:

B18C is a block code that can be EITHER a JDM 180hp SiR-G (GS-R) engine or a JDM 200hp Type R engine.

B18C5 is a block code for North American (possibly some other countries too) ITR engine. There are also B18C6 and B18C7 engines that are overseas ITR engines too for Europe/Australia/NZ, etc.

To the OP I cannot say for sure what you have. I've never really thought to look at the bare blocks of an ITR and GS-R engine to see what they are stamped.

By common-based knowledge P72 stamps typically mean GS-R/SiR-G while P73 means Type R, but I don't want to repeat/add to any misinformation since the point of this post is to reduce it to begin with.

BTW:

Just for giggles I just ran out to the garage and checked my USDM B18C5 block and it's serial number starts with a "5" so I guess that doesn't help any.

a B18C block is either a JDM SiR-G/GSR or a JDM ITR motor. a P72 stamp is a SiR-G/GSR and a P73 is ITR. that's from my knowledge. correct me if i'm wrong.

You definitely have a JDM SIR-G block there. But it looks like it has USDM ITR pistons because of the "A0 P73" stamp. I think JDM ITR pistons are stamped "00 P73," and are slightly higher in compression.

Integra Si-vtec = 94-95 Jdm B18c and NOT b16..
