F23 with H22a transmission? Gearing questions
Wondering if the gearing would be too short? I'm building my engine up quite a bit and thinking about shortening up the gearing. A well built NA F23 is what I'm shooting for and it will probably put out some good torque. Redline will probably be @ or below 7k. Also might use undersize lightweight wheels/tires. Looking at 215/40/16 for my RPF1's which would be about 2 inches overall diameter shorter than stock. Just trying to get some thoughts before I pull the trigger on the tire size and tranny. I'm currently cruising in 5th at 60mph @ 2300rpm so I'm wondering where about would I be with the H22 tranny and 2" decrease in wheel diameter? Also what about max mph in 2nd gear? I would REALLY appreciate some input from someone more mathematically inclined.......
THanks

My initial impression with the H23 tranny was that my car sucked because while the trans kept it at higher rpms, the F23 naturally falls on its face up high.
That feeling has since changed with a few mods and tuning, but I still don't know whether I'd be brave enough to try the H22 trans.
