Default car cranks over and fires but doesn't say running

After I got the car to crank and run i drove it around the block twice and then stopped the rpms bogged down then went up and then it just went straight down...
the problem that i have is that i have a cracked exhaust mani but im not sure if that will make it bog like that...

could be be somethin else besides the mani...

help would be great

thanks
jeff

Is the engine flooded?

Do you have bright spark at each plug?

Does the fuel pump prime?

Have you checked the timing belt? It may have slipped a tooth.

By prime, I mean do you hear the low humming sound of the fuel pump for a few seconds when you turn the key to ON(II) without cranking the engine.

To check for spark, remove a plug wire from one spark plug and insert a spare plug into the end of the wire. While you ground the threads of the plug against a convenient metallic engine part, have a buddy crank the engine. You should see a bright bluish spark at the end of each plug.

You'll need to remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover to check whether the timing belt broke or slipped. If the belt slipped, the cam and crank will no longer be synchronized at TDC1.

yes the fuel pump does prime...well if you think if i don't spark then the car wouldn't fire up...so i think i don't have a problem there...the only thing that i can think of that will cause the motor to bogg and not gettin enough power would be the timing and the crack in the exhaust mani...
oh and i do need to pull the code for the check engine light...

It's possible that you have spark but that it's too weak, so you may still want to check.

The cracked exhaust manifold is unlikely to cause a no-start condition, though it will make the engine run rich.

Definitely pull the CEL code(s) as it may be highly informative.

The last step would be to check the timing belt.

did you pull the code? It could be that its not getting enough air into the engine. Mine does that same except i know that i have a bad iacv so thats why it causing it.

no i didn't pull the code cause the light is being wierd...

when i have the key clicked over twice there is a green up air showin on the bottom of the cluster and then when that disappears the engine light goes away then it comes back and starts flashing like when you tryin to pull the code...

so i don't know what the problem for that is either...

A jumper wire was inserted into the service connector and not removed, or the service connector circuit has a short.
