Default Soft Gas Pedal w/ Aftermarket Cruise Control?

This query is for anyone who has an aftermarket cruise control (CC) installed in their Honda.

I have instructions for a Rostra (a.k.a. Audiovox?) aftermarket cruise control. The instructions say that the actuator cable may be connected directly to the throttle pulley and illustrates how. The Rostra CC does not apply forces, via a cable, to the gas pedal, contrasting with the OEM design. When the aftermarket CC is operating, as far as I can tell the throttle cable to the gas pedal goes slack, so the gas pedal returns to rest position (= idling position) as long as the operator is not applying force with his/her foot.

This contrasts with the OEM design, where with the CC operating, the gas pedal stays roughly in the position it was in when one first switched on the CC.

Do I have this right? If so, then from an operator's standpoint is it no big deal for the gas pedal to be sort of limp when in CC mode?

I hope it's not too dumb a question.
