Default obd0 to obd1 conversion question and ecu p06 question

i am totally new at this conversion
i was told that if i wanted to do a obd0 to the obd1 conversion with no vtec, the cheapest ecu i should look for is the p06 or p05 ecu.
is one better then the other?
is there a difference?

im not sure which specific civic that is from and what year.
also is there any differences i should be aware of?

year?
auto or manual or doesnt matter?
lx, dx, ex, si, or doesnt matter?
any other info i should know?

or should i just get a different ecu?
i dont have vtec or dohc but i may in the future, who knows. so should i get an ecu that can handle this now and those extra mods in the future?
thanks.
