how to tell motor version...91 accord with a few problems
how do you tell the version of motor in a honda. ive got a 91 accord that has a few problems but without parts to look at i dont specifically know what i need. the car is a 91 4dr ex 5 spd manual. any information would be helpful.
If it is still the stock engine it could be an F22A4 or an F22A6. The way you can tell for sure by checking the stamped code. All Honda engines have a code stamped on the block.
Like this,

In this image it is the 2nd highlighted code. It's the one on the bottom "F22B2". Yours should say F22A4 or F22A6, unless it has been swapped.
This code can be found on a flattened plate directly above the front motor mount bracket, next to the transmission. For reference, that kind of blurry thing in the top left corner is the water outlet & upper rad hose coming from the head. And in the top right, that is the exhaust manifold.
