Default sunroof maintenance

I was wanting to get access to the sunroof rails so I could get some grease on them. and get all the leaves and crap that has built up over the years.

and if some one could also give me info on how to replace the sunroof motor, that would be awesome

first of all we need to know what model car it is but to get to that motor you need to pull down the ceiling

Default FV-QR

If it's like the 6th gen, to remove the glass:

- Get in the car
- Open the sunshade
- Remove the screw on the bottom of the plastic covering the bottom of the rail
- Remove the nuts on the bottom of the glass
- Push up on the glass
- Get out of the car
- Remove the glass through the top of the vehicle

Okay, so which is it you really want to do? I see three things here.

- Access rails to clean.
- Replace motor.
- Remove glass.

Since the moonroof on a 5th gen doesn't slide back under the roofskin like a 6th gen, you should be able to access most of the rails by just removing the glass.

I'll check when I wake up in a few ours how exactly to do this

Default FV-QR

I checked the manual. It was even easier than I wrote earlier.

- Open sunshade.
- Tilt up glass.
- Remove glass mounting screws.
- Remove sliding glass from bracket.

Relating to the topic but not entirely: I noticed my anchor spring on the passenger side is broken. My sunroof works perfect. I'm just curious as to the function of the anchor spring. Anyone have an idea?
