I need a picture
Does anyone have a picture of the rear window on the hatch of an '89 that includes the moulding in the picture? I am currently arguing with the local glass shop and I want to make sure I am not imagining things.
I just had the rear backglass replaced after a crazy groundskeeper threw a rock from his lawnmower and shattered it. I had the window replaced on Monday, let the car sit for 24 hours like the glass guy said, didn't wash it etc. The next time I dove it, 3 days after installation, I parked it in my mother's driveway. There was nothing around to damage it and it was only 75 degrees out and the other windows wer open. My step-father and I heard a loud pop and sure enough, it had shattered.
It was obvious that it started at the bottom, along the moulding and fanned out from there. I called the installer and told him. Of couse he assumes no responsibility. I told him that the moulding didn't look right after he installed it. He insisted that he used the old moulding because there was no damage to it. I remember the moulding looking much wider than what it is now after he placed the window. When he got done, there was a gap all around the window from the moulding to the body of the car that wasn't there before.
I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that there was some sort of pliable, rubber-like trim that was around the window that extended all the way to the body of the hatch.
I have a picture of the original window after it was shattered by the lawnmower, but it doesn't show the trim/moulding very well, but I do know that it looks nothing like what it does now. So if anyone has a picture of their rear hatch, it would be greatly appreciated.
