Default HELP if ya can

so i posted before on the problem, but its gotten worse. my wife has a 92 accord LX and its acting up. at first it would make a popping noise from the front passenger side wheel well only when letting off the gas/decelerating or shifting gears. no it has gotten worse and will do it some when going straight at a constant speed. on her way home from work the RPM's shot up like it wasnt in gear. i checked the tranny fluid and it was good. the only way the car will drive without the RPM's shooting up and not driving forward is if you mash on the gas.

any ideas? i was thinking maybe the CV is bad, but not fully broken and keeping it from engauging fully. so any thoughts/ suggestions would be appreciated. im hoping/thinking CV, but also thinking if not CV its the tranny going bad

thanx in advance.

CV could be bad internally (mine had completely broken apart inside) Or could have just popped out.

I'd take off the axle nut and try pushing against the hub to pop it back into place and if it can't go any further I'd look into snagging a new axle - $40 from advance with a core.

yea, its like $60 from autozone, theres no advance autoparts here. was gonna replace both if i do one, but wanna make sure its the Cv's first and not the actual tranny.

do you hear a thump when you hit the brakes and it sounds like a metal on metal thump? if so you might actually want to check the upper control arm bushings, it is rare but if you had replaced that b4 some of the bushing are known to go bad and allows the control arm to actually start shifting back and forth
