I have a few questions.
Every EG I see with ITR 4x114s has a conversion? Does this mean that we have different bolt patterns? I see so many ITR 4x114s on EGs that its hard to believe you need a conversion to fit them on.

And about lowered civics.. This is my first civic and I have been driving on tein coil overs for about 5 months and I am not even as low as most of the nice EGs I see that are slammed. But I am consistently rubbing on my rear tires. So whenever I go over a bumpy road or when I drive down or up an incline, I hear my rear tires rubbing and its loud as hell. Does this mean that almost EVERY lowered honda does this?

 

What size tires u got?

 

They are 14s. 195/45/14 I think. Whatever the most common 14 is.

 

JDM ITR has got 4x114.2 , EG got 4x100. so yes, they are converted.

about your rubbing rear tyres. what is the offset of your wheels? cos the rubbing can be caused by: too low, not enough camber, tyres too thick or offset is wrong.

 

195/45/14 is like a low profile on 14s. it should't rub...

unless his offset is not right or his camber is not right

 

your tires are the wrong size by a great deal.

if you're rubbing with them your car must be seriously low.

 

Ok, my bad about the tire size. I was thinking of my old car's aspect ratio. These are 195/60/14 tires on the Honda optional wheels. They came from the dealership on certain EG hatches. I don't know the exact offset. I had a good alignment done after I was lowered and got camber kits for the front and rear. I am pretty sure my camber is right then.

Why the hell do I rub so much when I am not even that low? Almost every EG I see on here is lower than mine. Do your guys rub?

About the ITRs, how do you get a conversion so you can get the 4x114.2 on an EG? Also, where is the best place to buy those wheels in white?

so why am I rubbing? Are you saying that all those slammed to the ground hondas can go up and down driveways without their car making squeeking noises of the tires rubbing the wheel well?

 

they can either go crazy camber to 'just' avoid tyre scraping, or set it to the stiffest damping adjustment.

 

Hmm, well I am running Tein basic coilovers so I can't adjust the shock dampners.

I am going to take some new pictures of my car soon and post them up so you guys can see the height that I am at. I really want to know if everyone else with lowered civics is rubbing as much as me.

And btw, are there any alternatives to ITR 4x114s that are 4x100 so I don't have to get the whole brake conversion. It seems like a lot of work. Anyone have anything to say about it?

 

When I got my EG hatch I was plagued by the eternal rear tire rub. It was extremely irritating. I found a little piece of metal where the rear bumper meets the body at the wheel well that was rubbed bare and bent it up out of the way a bit and haven't seen any problems since then. It was very small and the only reason I saw it was the shiny bare metal.

 

Ok, here are some pictures of my car. I don't think its that low, it could be a lot lower. I don't really know how to look for a metal piece. Are there any other opinions? I know theres tons of people running around lower than this and I don't know if they are experiencing eternal rear rub as well.

 

well your tires r pretty big. and with your alignment u prob have your alignment set to OEM spec. so your tires r sitting just about straight up. if u get some lower profile tires it should help a lot.

 

Well the alignment was done by the same guy who installed my front/rear camber kits so he knew my car was lowered. I am not sure if the alignment was to OEM specs or not.

These are the lowest profile 14 inch tires! I guess I will have to wait till I get HXs or those replica JDM ITR wheels so I'll have 15s. Whats the lowest profile 15 inch tire?

yes, you need the conversion if you want to do 4x114 on your EG. about rubbing, roll the fenders. it'll help.

Is the black plastic wind deflector necessary to allow air to get up in the radiator properly? Mine is cracked in the middle and so it hangs pretty low and I hate how noticeable it is from afar. I am thinking of taking it off or maybe replacing it...

Are HX's 14s or 15s?

Has anyone ever seen my wheels and if so, do they have a name other than what I heard which was the honda optional wheels?

 

Get HX wheels and call it a day. Paint them white, should look close to ITR's. They are 14"

 

Eh, I'm thinking 15s are the way to go just because you can get lower profile tires than on 14s.

 

You have a few choices first the aspect ration for your car would have been a 185 60 14 in a h speed rating on the option tire. The 195 is a bit to wide on the oem 14 inch option wheel. So you can go ahead and roll the inner fender to create more clearance, have a little neg camber dialed in, change the tires to a 185 60 14 or get a different wheel offset.

 

Many alignment "professionals" don't understand that negative camber isn't the devil that kills tires on the insides, so they set camber to zero or even postive sometimes.

If the alignment guy was a true professional then he'd have installed the kits and aligned the car to allow maximum allowed negative camber up front which is -1, and -1.3 in the rear, then set rear toe at .08 and front toe at zero. Hell I have gotten away with -1.5 front camber on my own daily driven cars before and numerous customer vehicles.

When someone sets camber at zero it gives you no room for running decent offset wheels and/or wider tires without it rubbing. Judging from your pics your camber looks to be at least zero, if not somewhat positive, which sucks *** for rubbing and makes the car handle horribly.

Tell your alignment guy you want at least -1 camber all around and to reset toe to .08 rear, zero up front and not only will you be less likely to scrub, but the car will corner better and still not wear tires on the insides.
