Default Help! Tach and Speedo off in 93 DX.

So when my car is at idle my Tach is reading 0 RPMs and my Speedo is almost 7 mph off! Any idea if the two could be related or any suggestions on what to try to fix these problems?

Thanks!

How are you sure that the speedo reading is off?

The igniter unit in the distributor sends the signal to the tach on a blue wire. Check whether the connection of the blue wire to the igniter unit is loose or corroded. Otherwise, the tach itself may be bad.

Actually, the way the post is written, it's unclear whether or not your interpretation is correct.

Lol! ok guys this is what is going on. I know my Speedo is off cause because when i drive past the signs that tell you how fast you're going my speedo reads 7 mph over what the sign says i'm going.

As far as the Tach. When my car is sitting still and is just idling my tach reads 0.

On a different Honda forum, several members reported that the speedos in their 6th generation Civics read about 3mph higher than expected. This may be a common Civic problem.
