Does the 01-ITR AC turn off under high throttle?
I've been reading about the GM cars and many of them turn their AC if the throttle is open more than 75%. I was wondering if the ITR does this because it would be a good idea seeing how our cars are a bit lacking in the torque dept. I have a hard time remembering to turn the AC on and off when tackling a technical piece of roadway.
I'm thinking of monitoring the throttle position sensor and once it reads 75% or so having some circuitry tell the ECU to kill AC.
here's an idea...reach over and touch the button! .... seriously, I just turn off the ac if I know I'll be revving a bit. Having driven a '96 (redlining every chance I got) the ac compressor took quite a beating, and in the later years it will really thump and spurt and do weird things. Just turn it off for more spirited runs.

Another reason I'm an electrical engineer and a car isn't yours until you've started swrewing with its wiring opening panels the say qualified service only.

okay, I'm reaching over to the Helms. I'll get a switch that shuts off the AC when the rpm's hit say 5000rpm.

I think it does have a WOT bypass. We saw it happen on the dyno during a run with the A/C on....was down a bunch of HP then bang! right back up to normal....I don't think I have the plot, but i'll look for it. If I remember correctly it bypassed in the higher end of the RPM.

My lowly Integra GS does not cycle the AC off at WOT. The car is so slow that it is REALLY obvious when it is on or not.
But you do realize that the AC compressor does not stay on continuously. It cycles on and off at a set interval so that the evaporator coil doesn't ice up.
