Default How To Remove your unwanted Trim paint

Just recently bought an 89 CRX. The guy before me had painted the trim, and I didnt really like it.
This way for removing the unwanted trim paint is fairly easy. No messy products. No taking off the trim, so you dont risk breaking the plastic clips that hold it on.

Here is what youll need:

1. Some paking tape. I got mine at Rite-aid, its the rite aid brand. Im sure 3M will work too.

2. some type of tool to scrape off paint. Youll want a tool that is softer than the plastic trim, so it wont scratch it. What I found out works best is my cvs card. try it out.

3. some time.

heres what youll want to do:

1. clean the trims up.

2. put the tape on them, piece by piece, and press it down hard with the tool, or your hand.

3. rip the tape off.

It helps if you start chipping the paint off with a knife, or some sort of tool to get it started. after that, it should be easy. looks great too! Old school.

well, the guy before you did a crappy job. if he were to do a nice job, he'd have sanded down the trip before any paint was sprayed, and in that case, you'd have a hard time getting the paint off.

+2 for restoring your CRX to a factory level.

yes that is true, a very cheap paint job was done. I think he probably went to macco and got that cheapest 1 spray over the whole car.

anyways, I love the factory look now.

give it a try.

for trim thats been sanded down and primed, you might just have to buy new trim. because if you do ever get the paint off with paint thinner, or aircraft grade paint stripper, the trim might not look good at all since it was sanded down.
