Default pro 1 cams b18c R

I have a JDM b18c R motor. 11.3 compression. .25 over bore honda oem piston. Skunk2 intake manifold. 98 spec headers. whale ***** intake. spoon n1 full exhaust. etc with the skunk2 pro1 cams and cam gears.

I have a p28 tuned from phearable at the moment and have had hell gettin the car to idle properly and jus have become frustrated. I have -50% at idle for my air fuel ratios to be at low 13s.

I am thinking about taking these cams out becuase I have a feeling my compression is not high enough. im looking into buyin tuner series cams.

or

buying hondata and tuning it.

I think these cams may be too big for my application

what do you guys think

It is important that you dial in those cams according to skunk 2´s spec sheet.. Otherwise you will have idle problems..

i had idle problems till i got pissed and set my throttle plate at 2,000rpm

Race car only for the win. I know some people idle like stock with them but i don't have the time and resources to spend at this time to make them idle like stock.

the cams are just too big ,,,,,, you need an upgraded valve train and alot of spring pressure,,,,,,,,,,,, long story short - switch cams

That is correct. It is critical that you have the car tuned properly for those cams to fully function accurately . Your idle should improve if the tune is done proper.

This has been discussed several times before. You have to degree them in, and then adjust them on the dyno to go from there. Between the 2 you can usually get a pretty good idle. These are awesome cams, but i personally went with the tuner1's with pro series springs and retainers. Much less hassle, but not as much midrange. Your compression is fine; you will even benefit from these cams with stock compression. Your tune and timing is what's holding you back right now. Hondata S300 and take it to a tuner! Then you will love them!!!!

I have dual valve springs and retainers. Yes I do agree that I need to dial the cams in correctly. I will be looking to degree them in the motor. Skunk2 reccomended a degreeing kit from xenonchron but i find it quite expensive. Im thinking that any degreeing kit should work. You guys agree?

I forgot to mention that I live in The Bahamas and we have NO dyno...No tuners that deal with chrome..hondata etc at all. Everything i get is from the states etc. This is why im kind of stuck. i know that people will tune over the net via sending logs etc. I just need to find the right people.

comments are welcome...thanks

race car only? dude, with a race car, dont you think youde want to take your time and make it right?

OP: i have a very similar setup. keep the pro 1s, get skunk2s springs and retainers and get your cams degreed, youll be happy with them

yea i have dual valve springs and retainers. Im going to degree them in and get some kind of tuning. I may jus go with chrome due to funds at the moment.

You guys know if any degree kit will work? they are all universal correct?

yes, you have dual valve springs STOCK. have you put something upgraded in there? you need to with the Pro1s. degree kits are universal to an extent. you just need to know how to use a dial indicator in conjunction with a degree wheel and some math.

Its all in the tune like every one is saying. Mine ran like crap untill i got the tune done on the s300 now i have ZERO problems. I also did not degree them but im sure if i were to now and go back to the dyno i could make more power. AWSOME cams tho mid to redline makes great power!!!

BTW: im on a 100% stock ITR but the cams and I/H/E

took my tuner 5 minutes to get em to idle, 900 -1000 rpms dead on with no loping.

my only issue is cold starts since i dont have an IACV or FITV since i have itb's. made a sweet power curve too.

Well, if what you said were true, then YES - you would be using stock VT...hence the reason I asked you. By this statement:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by MyLilCivic &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">BTW: im on a 100% stock ITR but the cams and I/H/E</TD></TR></TABLE>

...what would deter us from thinking you were using stock valvetrain? Then you go off posting:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by MyLilCivic &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

WOW get a life, go make your post worth reading</TD></TR></TABLE>
