Anybody on here have a H22a daily driver?
since '96 buddy. Had it done by Place Racing, but had it reworked by no other than the wicked doctor himself, Charles Madrid(who should've done it in the first place). The only problems I've had:
- busted axles & overheating due to poor initial installation (even after waiting 6 months!!! - thanks Gil of Place Racing)
But after having Dr. Charles and Chris work their magic, my car runs like a dream. If I had to do it all over again, I'd do a JDM Type-S or Euro-R transplant.

I'm really considering puttin a H22 in my car... Would a type-s be better then the Euro-R... I was thinkin about talkin to Charles about it but I'm not sure if he's at the shop (Seeing that it is Sunday @ 4:18P.M.)..What have you heard about the two engines?
In my opinion the euro R is one of the nicest motors honda ever made. It is a 2.3 l vtec motor as you probably already know kinda overpriced but can basically be built by using the 2.3l block from the non vtec 92-95 prelude and slapping on a vtec head. Very nice motor and it would own if you ran it.

i have a friend that has one on a '88 crx hf.
he drives it everyday and had no problem with it. downfall is he has no a/c.
he also has a H22/supercharged on '92 civic h/b.
however, it's all customs mounts. it's done before, but with more headaches.
good luck

Could this procedure be done in someone's garage? Brackets have to custom made so that you have power steering? I'd love to do the swap but I have to pay for college. No one directly answered my question about comparing a h22a civic with other cars be they domestic or import. Mostly domestics. Those cocky Cutlass drivers.
have a friend is considering building a new project car and would go w/ an h22 motor.. isnt there a bracket or something i think i saw online for sale to make an h22 work w/ both a/c and p/s??? if anyone knows anything about this please let me know.. i too have been thinking about h22 swap and would do the swap myself as ive done b18 swaps before, how much more work is involed? i know i need a new mount kit and axles, what else?? thanks man
now, for what you'll need. There really isn't all that much, as the hardest (harder) part is just installation/wiring.
h22 with all the goodies..tranny/ecu/shift cables and shifter assembly
mount kit. a/c bracket (prefferably HCP)
axles
slim line fan [if you're opting for a/c still, you'll want to get two]
dual core radiator
other than that....it's just labor/wiring/installation really.
With my swap i'm replacing clutch/flywheel/water pump/timing belt (tensioners)/thermostat/oil pump/oil balancer shaft seal and any other gasket that needs replacing
hey SANBST, did you friend have to do any extensive cutting/welding to the frame in order for a fit? I would not mind losing PS and AC..
I want to use an HF CRX for weight and price reasons, but i stopped researching as i heard it required extensive work to fit the 2.2 in..
So now i am looking towards a eg hatch, but it is a little more dough..=/

i have done h22a swaps for alot of customers and they all enjoy it. No axle problems or anything. It is one of the best upgrade you can ever do for your ef/ek!
I have PS in my 94 civ EX. Soon to have AC
As far as welding, their is none. You will have to cut some holes for the shifter. Order the september 2001 issue. volume 13 #09. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ Go to the contact page and order it. It has a how to on the h22 in to a hatch.

My friend has one in her 4th gen Accord.IMHO,its pretty damn quick. And whats funny to me,is the fact that H series motors dont really sell for much at all.Dosent Hondamotorsonline sell em for under 3K,while a B18c is 3K+??? Great bang for the buck IMHO.And it has TORQUE!!!!! Neat motor,i wish sometimes i woulda kept my 00 Si and done that swap.
just finished mine... i love the torque, i need more. but you really dont need power steering... it's not that bad.

Contact Dr. Charles (at Area 51 Fab now or Chris at Autolink Motorworks in San Gabriel) re mounts for the H22. They installed additional mounts in addition to my custom Place Racing mounts. If I had a digital camera, I'd take a pic so you'd have an idea what I'm talking about. I've never seen anyone else offer these types of mounts(maybe Newman). These mounts were done on H22 hybrids by Dr. Charles/Chris at Pit Crew back in the days. My car was a bitch to steer (no power steering baby) and shift straight out of Place Racing(who did the initial work, and oh yeah, they suck). My car ran fine and continues to do so after Dr. Charles worked his magic on it. My H22'd EG kicks *** and gets about 33-35 mpg - yes that's right dammit with normal driving.
yeah i went to area 51 and checked out a couple cars they had there with h22 swaps. They sell their own mount kits for the h22 swap into an ek and possible an eg. They have the motor sit straight though like a b series motor, unlike how it traditionally leans back slightly. Crazy stuff!
