fuel system issues.. dual walbros.
Honda-tech I need your help im about to go crazy if I don’t figure this out. I’m having issues with my Dual Walbro setup in my teg it purchased the kit along with 8AN feed and 6AN return. This is running to a Russell fuel filter and through an Aeromotive FPR. The car will get up around 6k and hits like a wall. I’m using ECtune and my tuner put lean protection on so I didn’t have any issues with the car leaning out. I’ve tried different good working dizzys, cleaned all filters, cleared all fuel lines with compressed air, run new rubber lines in the tank that connect the walbros to the mount itself and have tried a different FPR along with a hondata and still the car does the same thing. I’ve run both pumps separate and they both pump fuel fine, Im lost as for what to do next.. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks
We have also tried adding more fuel and still it does the same

What's your fuel pressure when doing a pull? Also, what russell fuel filter are you running? Did you already have that filter on before or is that new? Sometimes with aftermarket filters, people get ones that do filter very well, but are too small and can't flow enough pressure or get clogged quickly/easily. I'm guessing you made those numbers right before you bought that stuff and got it to make more power. If so than it's a good chance it's with exactly what you just touched.

Disable lean protection.. I think its just seeing a spike and cutting your ignition.
I tune and own ectune pro bundles and have had problems like this before with the lean protection

as far as the fuel filter its a russell 40 micron disc element filter. The number where made before i did all this new fuel stuff. I've set the pressure anywhere from 40 to 80 and no change what so ever. Also i hooked up a in car fuel pressure gauge and monitored it during a pull and it contined to climb during the pull.. Also its wired up using two relays using 8 gauge wire, i had all the wiring done at a audio shop.. Thanks for the help
Ok i did some others thing i removed the filter/screen so the fuel is free flowing and also bumped the Fuel pressure up to 55 and still it cuts out around 6k, seems like in first gear it will rev to 7.5k then cut out

you must run a seperate relay for the 2nd pump with it's own direct power source (12g fused from battery). the factory wiring can turn the secondary relay on, but can't support the 2nd pump.

What are the the A/Fs getting into? Where is lean protection set? Also, are the depth of the pumps properly set? The bottom of the leg should be lined up with the bottom of the walbro logo that is engraved on the body of the pump. An easier way to set the dept if this is confusing is to just use your stock sending unit to compare to.

do you have a wideband? if not then you probably dont know what the motor is doing, i would take it back to the tuner and have him retune it
also check to make sure your fuel pressure is the same now as when it was tuned

what was just encountered last weekend at T1 was the fact that the "fuel bowl" directly under the pumps were draining the "bowl" faster than it could fill back up. the option was to fill the car all the way up with a full tank of gas and let it flow over the "bowl" wall.
give it a try, what can it hurt?
fill the tank up to the brim and see what she does

yes i have a wideband, cant remember the a/f ratios off the top of my head, ill double check the depth of the pumps. Sometimes the pumps can get very loud when the fuel tank is under half, almost like they are searching for gas. I'll have to pack it full to see what happens. Thanks for the replys..

me too, when i enabled lean protection on my already street tuned setup my car cut out at 2.5k. disabled it an it ran fine, on the datalogs it did not show strange things but the lean protection just freeked...try and disable it and just watch the wideband while tuning

packed the tank full of gas over the "bowl" and still doing the same thing, also the checked the depth of the pumps and all was good with them... my tuner isn't around for a few days so ill have to wait till then...
