Default What's the stock timing on a '92 VX supposed to be?

When I went to do a smog check a while ago, the mechanic decreased the timing on my 103,xxx mile '92 VX because he said that it would not pass if he didn't. So, I let him retard it it (and it pass) but he never set it back to normal.

Before the timing decrease, my car was idling at a little under 1,000 RPM (maybe 950 RPM) and now it idles pretty roughly and at around 200-300 RPM.

BTW, I did try to get the guy to re-set the timing back to normal but it turns out that guy quite that very same day so nobody could help me. Anyway, a friend of mine said he would do it for free but he needed to know what the stock timing is to properly do it.

So, I would really appreciate it if someone would let me know what the stock timing settings are for a stock '92 VX engine (D15Z6 I believe??) are.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mista Bone!

Anyone got any suggestions on advancing the timing on a stock '92 VX in an attempt to make it more responsive?

18 BTDC sound good?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the correction splitime.

Any suggestions for increasing timing on the d15z1?

When timing is increased, what should I expect?
Lumpy idle?
Fast (read: high RPM) idle?
The engine to be more responsive?

yeah, don't mess with it. with the VX being a lean burn setup, not gonna help much if any.
