Default question on upgrading ITR motor

right now i just have a crx and i'm wanting to put the itr engine in it. Its my understanding that hasport is currently devoloping the mounts and they should be out in awhile so thats good b/c i wont have the motor for awhile. I'm staying all motor with it and i'm going to be using it for drag mostly.

so my question is.......what have you guys done to your ITR engine to make it perform better. I posted something like this in the tech forum but they aren't really answering my question, just other ones i dont have.....

so i want to know what all is worth upgrading in the ITR engine cause i know its pretty bad *** already.....so if you were me, you have a crx with an ITR in it, whats good to keep and whats good to replace for drag.

thanks for the help.

Most here are hard core roadrace and autocrossers. But there are a few ITR draggers on here. As fas as what to do to the motor it all depends on what you want in the 1/4. I would say with a Crx and a ITR motor and some good driving and weight loss you should be in the 13's for sure as far as mods I would go with a JDM header with a 2.5 collector DC makes a good one and it makes good HP for the buck. INtake makes a little bit difference but this motor is so well enginered that it does not benifit to much from it. Dont get me wrong it will make more hp but not what you would normally expect. but I would go with some sort of a short ram and when you go dragg take out your left side headlight for more colder air charge. a 2.5inch exhaust will help alot as well. The basic bolt ons will give you a fast *** car.

Have fun and good luck

Chris

Yeah, I agree that boost will be well suited for drag racing. Or as my Vietnamese friend always says repeatingly, "boo it! boo it man!".

i don't want to boost it, i'm not going to go all out drag with it. I just meant that with the upgrades i would like to go more towards drag meaning jun cams instead of spoon as jun are more for drag. I don't want it all drag, no road. I'd just like my setup i listed below and for it to perform good in either drag or road.

But the car is going to be street driven, just on weekends b/c when i swap in the itr i will have a new car to drive to work and everything, the crx is just goin to be my fun car to drive around. ANd it is also already gutted, sound barrier and everything, all it has in it is the center consol, dash, door panels and the ebrake cover and seats, everything else gone.

now i know what intake and exhaust and all that i want already, when i said upgrading i mean like internals. is it worth it to get new cams pistsons all that since the itr is already bad ***. this is what i had in mind tell me what i should change if i should change it.

toda spec c cams
toda cam gears
toda valve spring kit
toda forged pistons
toda head gasket
toda sport injectors (somewhere down the road)
spoon throttle body
DC jdm 4-1 header
???? high flo cat
2.5 inch piping with apex n1 muffler

then suspension mods and everything else, i've been told that replacing the pistons and everything is a waste b/c they're good already, so i want to know if this is true, will i get anything out of the toda pistons and will it be worth it???

edit: i realize that toda is expensive stuff but thats what i want b/c from what i've seen/heard, its the ****
