Default 88 crx short shifter fitment

will an 88 civic / crx short shifter work on an 87 that all i really need to know

it will not if you give up easy. i actually have a double bend short shifter from a ek civic the only thing stopping it from fitting is the piviot ball the civics is larger. with a little paitience (and a die grinder helps) you can redusce the size of the ball. don't go to small or your shifts will get sloppy so test the sizing often make sure you end up with a fairly smooth and roundish finish and lube it on up when you put it in and you shifts will be just right

Another trick to making a short shifter is to cut and reweld the stock shifter so that the lower part of the shifter (below the pivot ball) is a bit longer than stock.

As long as you are in there be sure to replace the shifter bushings, they are cheap and improve shifting a lot.

in order to do this, all you need is the plastic "cage" the shifter sits in. that's it. then it slides right in. it'll have a little up/down play, but it should be fine.
