So my dad was in our driveway as I went to move my car. I decided to **** him off and stabbed on the gas and hit the launch control for about 3 seconds. I have it programmed on my Hondata S300 P28 at 4500 RPM. After I turned the car off, he started yelling at me telling me that I'm going to blow the engine because its not good to do that. He is an ASE certified mechanic in all areas and has been working on cars for 30 years as of this year. He knows what he is talking about but I don't understand how I can blow the engine hitting the launch control. If any of you Honda Gurus can explain how it could possibly hurt the engine, it would be greatly appreciated because I really don't get how it could damage it. Maybe I'm overlooking something, IDK. Thanks in advance guys.

 

He thinks you are hitting your rev limiter which your not. Explain to him how a 2 step works

Not good do that on cold start. idk wat kine damage could get use 2step.

 

For working on cars that long im surprised he cant tell the difference between 4500 and 8000 rpm. Unless he only works on domestics.

 

a rev limiter cuts the fuel and ignition. just like your motor being im limp mode, your not going to get any damage.

haha that is so true my buddies dad only works on domestics and he hates it when his son works on honda's lol

 

i must have popped my rsx's stock rev cut a million times in front of him.

 

I tried to explain it to him and he starts yessing me. He said something about what I'm doing to the valves when the revs drop that fast. I don't know.

Btw, he hates my car, its great. He used to talk a lot of **** until I beat him in his 08 Silverado 2500HD Duramax with the Allison transmission that quote, "Would smoke that rice piece of ****." lol, rice FTW.

 

lol .people think because they have 32442 torque they can beat anything.

plus the engine is designed to be driven, whats going to happen unless your valvetrain is too weak.
