Looking to pick up a good running CRX for a project but I found out that it has an issue with 3rd gear. It seems to pop out of 3rd when you stay in it for too long. What could be the cause of this? How easy is this to fix?

the shift collar on third is probably damaged, causing it to pop out. To fix it, you may need to buy a new 3rd-4th gearset, which is not cheap(like $350ish). My suggestion is to just pick up a different transmission for it. you can get used descent condition d-series transmissions for less than $200.
