I hate this single tyre rules. It brings top level prototype racing to the same level of spec formulas.
I would hate to see MotoGP head the same way F1 is now
Why doesn't any other manufacturers step in? Dunlop? Avon? Metzeler?

You know what though? World Superbike is amazing right now and they have a single tire rule.
If anything it'll remove the tires from the winning equation so no mo bitchin about how crappy michelins are.

Actually, the racing in F1 is closer now because everyone is on more equal footing as the all have the same 2 compounds available to them during the weekend. It used to irritate me when half the field was off pace just because they were running a different brand tire.
So to me, the single tire manufacturer rule hasn't ruined my enjoyment of F1 at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I think the same effect would be had with MotoGP as well, so I'm all for having a single tire manufacturer.

Michelin lost their edge when they weren't allowed to make a special compound after their first 2 days of practices. Bridgestone used to struggle but is now able to provide very good rubber at every stop they've been to this year. They've never had it so wrong like Michelin has.... Unfortunately I think it's for the best, especially for better racing like WSBK. We'll still get innovation with tires and grippier stuff.
