yea i have a d16z6 but the vtec sylonoid is not wired up and i cannot find any wires coming from the P26 ecu wire harness. is there a custom way i could wire the vtec to the distributor harness. please help!!!

 

You need to pin it yourself. A4 in the p28 is VTEC Solenoid. D6 is the Pressure switch. Second pin on the switch's plug goes to ground. Here's some more info.

well its the orignal motor for the car. i bought it like this. shouldn't their be wires already their?

 

Check the proper pins if you haven't already, and track them back from the ECU if you find them. If not, proceed to wire them.

im dont know much about ecu's but can u still use the ecu from a d16z6 and wire it to a b16?

with an obd converter harness yes you can

 

My brother some how wired up a toggle switch for his v-tec and told me theirs a huge diffrence in upper rpms. but thinking bout it i don't know how the hell a toggle switch works, cuz its supposed to be controlled by the dam ecu. but he says its working.

It will sound like it working, but its not. high lift cam profile can be made to engage with a switch, but the fuel and timing maps wont change so you wont see any performance increase.

dude its a single cam...you cant feel vtec in a sohc. lol unfortunately.

quick question.. i have the same issue xcept mine is a cx.. i already wired the pressure switch and the silenoid and u say that the second pin on the connector of the switch is ground.. my question is this.. do i need to have a third wire to get ground or do i only have to wire up a4 and d6 in order for my vtec to ingage?? thanx in advance for the help.

you need to wire a ground as well, you can simply run a wire from the other terminal of the plug and ground it to the body of the vtec solenoid.

 

so how would we know if V-Tec works if you can't feel it?

 

My brother has his on a toggle switch and he turned it on the other day while it was idling and it turned off. and then other times he turns it on it lowers 200rpms. i told him its probably not good to do that while idling.

You can hear the crossover, it will be very faint though unless you have an intake.

Ever see a V8 with a high lift cam? They don't idle well. Thats why honda came up with vtec.

 

Very simply put ditch the toggle switch idea.

You need to run wires from the VTEC solenoid and VTEC pressure switch into the pin locations as pictured in that diagram riceburnerry posted.

 

My brother thinks the dam toggle switch work and i tell him everytime I don't hear or feel any diffrence. because he turns it on at like 4000rpm and at 5500 he asks me do you feel it? its like normal and never changes tones. lol I tried telling him look at this diagram on here and connect it to the ecu but he thinks his toggle works. all hes doing is giving the v tec solenoid 12 volts. i dont know how that would do anything lol.

You mean p28 right?? And yeah the vtec will come in on a toggle switch, you'll feel it in a hatch, but not really in a coupe, it'll mess the solenoid up though, but it is better to have it coming in on the ECU because you'll have the fuel maps and timing and all that stuff working, its way better to have it on the ECU...

You don't have to run a ground wire, because the solenoid is already grounded to the head, I'm sure that's what you were meaning though. All you need is the Vtec pressure switch ran and the solenoid wired up to the Ecu..

You don't have to have a conversion harness to run a p28 on a b16 if the swap is in an obd1 car, you just have to have it chipped so that it will run it.
