Default Need help car overheating

This is for my friends car he has a 96 honda accord ex and i replaced his thermostat because his car was overheating...it was working until a few days later it started to overheat again. Also the car took a while to start after the replacement. Could i have blown a fuse or relay by doing this?? The reason i ask is because i did not disconnect his battery when unplugging the sensor.
