I have an itr...i got skunk2 stage 2 cams, tuned on hondata s200 (p28). if everything else is stock on the car, and i slap in the original ecu in, can i pass smog? it does not like the stock ecu btw. wont hold idle if its life depended on it. but, can it pass smog like that? or if i put the cams back at 0 instead of advanced or retarded? what you guys think?

You should have thought about what you were gonna do come smog time before you modded your car. Someone gives you advice and and an answer to your "how do I pass smog question" and you don't take it, I don't get some people

How do you possibly expect to pass smog with a lumpy idle?

I don't know how ref. inspection is where you're from but here in cali, ref. inspection is worse than smog.

If it's anything like the ref. inspections here, good luck finding an EASY solution. You're best bet is to swap the STOCK CAMS back in, to match the STOCK ECU. If your car doesn't idle smooth witht the S2 cams, how do you honestly expect to pass the ref.?
State ref. here in CA check timing, what rpm your car idles, all the vacuum lines and hoses, and much more.

You want opinions when we already told you what to do? Are you retarded? You have more than one thread on this and EVERYONE is telling you the same thing. Just take it as is and get failed so you can come back and ask us went wrong. THEN we can tell you the same thing and MAYBE it will sink in.

AHAH Got under your skin did I? Good, now go fail the smog test and come back and ask for "different opinions."

Fact is, you didn't like the opinions you got because you might have to do some actual work and you just want to pretend everything is ok.
Should we feed you with a bottle too?

Your options are limited. You're going to a ref. not a smog station. Your best bet is to swap your stock cams in to match your stock ecu get it through your head already. S2S2 cams will lope during idle with a stock OBD2 ecu.

Just listen to us. We are only trying to help you. YOU WILL NOT PASS at the ref with a [freak]ed up idle. You need more ignition advance with those primary lobes to get it to idle and that factory ecu will not cut it. If you do advance the ignition timing with the distributor you will fail before he runs it on the dyno after he checks it.

you know it will cost you more in the long run if you dont swap in the stock cams

but suit your self, the ref is not stupid like some smog techs/cops.

I thought the state ref was suspended?

Youre right. The state ref program was reinstated on Monday. Better get your stock cams in....
