Question about air ride suspension
Hey guys, Im looking at buying a new civic and it has air ride suspension on it.
The guy said the total ground clearance with the suspension all the way up is about 4 inches. Now the problem is I need more ground clearance then that, I dont know alot about air ride suspension but is there any way I would be be able to adjust the suspension so that when its all the way up I get about 7"-8" and then when its down i get 4" of ground clearance?
And no I dont want a truck/suv because I like it around 4", but where I live some of are roads are not in the best shape and also for the winter I would like to rise it up a bit.
Thanks
Dan

What does 4 inches have to do with a truck? My buddy has a S10 ( a truck) that can raise above stock height or sit the body on the ground (it's bodydropped). If it was bagged correctly, it should get way over 4 inches. I did some research on bagging my Honda awhile back and with the kit I was looking at, I would go 2 inches ABOVE STOCK. I would steer away from that, plus air suspension can be a pain, especially when it is done by someone else besides you.
Are they air bags/struts? or cylinders (cans)? Should be cans cause not many air struts are small enough to be compacted in a civic.
They should be able to get up more then that, it really depends on the setup you got inside of it. I have air suspension on my EJ8 right now and can fit 20+" rims with the clearance it gives if I wanted.
You can also buy some more cans for about 300$ which would replace the ones you got in there already which will give you the height needed.
The bottom brackets that go into the actually mount of the vehicle will give you three options most of the time for ride height. You might be able to adjust these as I'm thinking he has them as low as possible.
If anything, get custom brackets and you'll be at full requested height even when your dropped all the way and the air is out of the cylinders.
Take a picture or two underneath and I can help you further.
There's many myths out there about air ride that need clearing up, but it's not worth the typing space here, PM me if you have any questions with it. I've been running my system for a year on a cheap setup and absolutely 0 problems. It's been the best thing I've installed inside my ride since I got it.

What's that mean? Easy street makes a strut bag kit that will bolt right in on a civic.

They came out with Air Struts for them, which utilize thinner bags and high performance shocks, but if you are wanting a stiff setup, Cans are much better and much cheaper.
I got hookups on both and some good links if you want a decent setup. Just ask.
