connecting an amp to stock cd player in 01 civic.
Are there amp jacks on the back of a stock cd player? Im assuming there are not any, is there another way to connect it without an aftermarket stereo?
Not unless you get/make a harness that splits open the speaker outputs, but you dont want to hook the speaker outs from the stereo into the RCA jacks on the back of the amp or you'll fry it.

There are other ways to connect an aftermarket amp to a stock HU, as mentioned the "hi to low converter" or LOC can be use to convert the high level speaker output to a low level preamp out put, most amps today have a LOC built in, [speaker level inputs]

That depends on the amp, with JL Audio amps that is exactly what you do, [connect RCAs to the speaker leads and plug them into the RCA inputs.
