Got a 98 and just recently she started making a "clunking" sound. Sounds kinda like a sway bar endlink problem but they're fine. Replaced the bushings on the sway bar, noise still there. Makes the noise under braking and under change of momentum, sounds like it's coming from the firewall area. Are the Typies notoriously bad on engine mounts? I ordered one (rear) and it's on back order from the dealer. Am I being vague enough? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

 

had same prob on my car could not figure out what it was it ended up to be a motor mount sometimes they break but you can not see the problem on the outside I replaced my driverside and now no more clunk

 

Thanks Bro. I had a feeling that was it. How did you know to start with that particular mount? I think mine sounds like the rear mount but I figure any of the mounts being worn will make some sort of noise. Just gotta check em out eh?

 

yes, braking under pressure = "klunk"...check your motor mounts!
