RXS-S maintainence at 7500 miles true?
I thinking about getting a Type S and the dealer guy said it only requires oil changes and shiz every 7500 miles. I find that hard to believer becuase in my GSRs handbook, it said the same damn crap and I did it at 3K miles anyways.
So, I want to know if you true enthusiast Type S drivers actually do it at 7500 miles. We all know that maintainence varies by driving conditions and how hard you drive it, but Im just asking in general.

I dont go by that crap. I do mine every 3ooo miles just to be safe. And for the most part I change around 28oo miles just to be safe. I think that the dealer says its ok to change the oil every 75oo miles if you do normal driving and no racing or going into i-vtec for that matter, in other words you baby the motor its whole life. But I change mine every 3k just to be safe.
First of all, if you change your oil every 3000 miles, your only helping the oil companies. Ever notice who is telling you to change your oil that often?
Now back to the main issue, my owners manual has two maintenance schedules: NORMAL (10,000 mile intervals) and SEVERE (5,000 mile intervals). I follow the severe schedule. Anyways, I changed my oil at 5,000 miles and went to the dealer last week for my 10,000 mile service. The service rep. asked if I was in for the 7,500 mile service and I was like huh?? I showed him my owners manual just to see if we were on the same page and he didn't have much to say. So after I got my car back I noticed the little sticker on the windshield that said I was due for my next oil change in 3,000 miles. WTF! Needless to say I think I'll be looking for another Acura dealer in the area, at least one that has a clue about what the manufacturer recommends for maintenance.

I change every 5000 miles...I do it on my EX, did it on my Si, and will do it on my Type S as well.
I knew that the new Honda's have an interval of 10k miles, but wasnt aware the older models also were good for that many miles. I know your Si cant be too old, but what year is the EX? Mine is a 94 and if I am correct, the manual recommends every 3k miles. I just heard that the 01 civics didnt need a change until 10k miles some time ago.
EDIT: It is recommended to change the oil OFTEN on forced induction engines. In my case, 3k miles is probably a good idea. On turbocharged engines, its probably better to change it even before 3k miles.

i change mine at 3k , i dont care what people say, i've done it in every car i have had, and have, i'm not about to change just to save a buck....i'd rather spend more on oil than on a new engine

Id rather spend money every 3 months on a 5o dollar synthetic oil change every 3k miles, then to buy a 6ooo.oo dollar motor. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

Yeah, I called Toda on friday and asked when they would release thier parts. They told me that they were going to release them in late december. I cant wait..
Well I plan on getting alot for the S. Items include:
Toda Camshafts
Toda valve springs
Toda pistons
Toda Rings
, but the vtec killers are still up in the air, its either the camshafts or the vtec killers. Im still deciding.
