Wouldn't you lose oil pressure because its a larger filter? My bro use to run them on his b16 and b18c1 motors he had with no problems.

I have heard the same whether its true or not I dont know.
The Ap1 filters are smaller than the regular versions and do not have the paper filter media either. FWIW, I use these filters as well.

the bigger filters suffer from expansion under hard driving, the smaller filter doesn't suffer as badly

Better because it's more stable oil pressure. They made a design change to the valve in the filter and it does a better job regulating the oil. The more stable the pressure/flow, the better the performance of the V-teck.

that's one way of helping to prevent them expanding.

I know the Logo filter is used as a replacement as it's smaller, I thought the S2000 filter was too, I may be wrong then.

In particular its the 00-03 S2000 because the AP2 takes the same filter as every other Honda. If I remember right the AP1 filters are made by ROKI(sp?)

if the 00-03 ap1 filters r better then why would they downgrade filters in 2004? i know the engine size changed from a 2.0 to a 2.2 but why would they switch filters if the ap1 are supposedly better? makes me think they switched for a reason

I was once told by a Honda Rep that the only reason for the switch was to save money on the filters.

that could be the case because almost all of the newer acura's use the same oil filter now: 15400-PLM-A02 is the part number. range from the EL to the MDX, they all use this filter.

the only different one is the NSX and the old Legend.

Because you change the size of the filter does not mean the oil pump is changing the pressure, All you are doing is adding pressure or releaving pressure.
Stick with the stock size, Honda does have a R&D dept which is pretty good

I've been running the S2K filter with a hose clamp for some time now without any problems ever since Honda made the regular ones smaller.

all S2000 filters are the same 00-08. there is only one part number for them: 15400-PCX-004 (Filtech)

every other filter used on a Honda in the last 20 years is gonna use a 15400-PLM-A02 (Honeywell). there is also a 15400-PLM-A01 that is made by Filtech, you cant order them cuz they will automatically supersede to the A02. you just gotta get lucky and they have them (and will actually look for them for you).

there is also a 15400-PBF-014 that was used on Insights, but has been superseded to the PLM. those are smaller than the PLMs and are made by Filtech also.

Filtech > Honeywell

Let's clarify. If you walk into the dealership as of right now, then thats the case. 1 type. But if they still have the ROKI's in stock(and most still do) they will know what you are wanting and get it for you.

no need, im sitting in the parts dept. just walked over to the shelf, all Filtech's. but like you said, might just be what we have now.

but my bad, the 15400-PFB-014 is a ROKI.

15400-PCX-004 is most likely the one you will get, but ask specifically if they have the first gen S2000 filters. They will know the diff if they still have them in stock.
