A couple questions about LoJack costs.
I think I might be able to get the hook up for a LoJack system.
1: Was the cost of the LoJack offset buy your insurance savings?
-- My ins company asks if I have some sort of theft recovery device and I'm curious if having one saved you significant amount.
2: In addition to buying the unit and having it installed is there any additional fees or service plans involved with it?
-- I don't want to spend money to keep this thing activated, updated, or to use important features that cost extra.
Sorry I know the lojack topc has been beaten throughly. I searched and did not find detailed answers to these questions.

1) I got a decent discount from the dealer for my Lojack. It paid for itself in insurance discounts in under 2 years.
2) No additional fees. However, they do recommend every 2 years you pay $75 for some maintenance. I think they just replace the battery in it.

Thanks.
I think I may go for it.
When the finance rep was attempting to get me to buy the system he offered something "extra" that gives an advanced warning.
IE: If the car gets towed or moved somehow without the immobilizer key in place lojack will contact me.
Is that a feature that requires a plan?

I was not informed of this feature when I purchased mine.
I believe it was mentioned when I called LoJack, but I wasn't really in the mood to listen to an upsale, I just wanted the unit I already had reinstalled. (My car had been broken into, and they had yanked out the unit while trying to find the hidden kill switch that doesn't exist. Obviously had a master key, but thankfully the OEM immobilizer saved my car.)

Yeah my car has an immobilizer and factory alarm as well.
I talked to my insurance comapany and they told me that it was 15% off of my comprehensve coverage.
That works out to about $23 a year saved with a $200 deductble. So I won't really earn the cost of the unit back.
Still need to check it out though.
