95 accord lx speedo
Everything on the dash works accept for the speedo. It never moves, anyone have any suggestions? I just complted an engine swap(same year v-tech-to another same year v-tech) Please help
When I got the car with the engine was blown. The lady that gave the car to me said that it worked before the swap. Im not sure but there is a plug connection that is on the left side of the motor. It comes from the wiring harness then plugs in to another wire that runs to the trany. I broke that connector but i thought i got the wires back where the belong. So i tried plugging just the wires into the connector that runs to the tranny several differant ways but it has not made a differance. Im not realy for sure if that has anything to do with the speedo? Thanks for yoour response muffin man.
iv had 4 accords with engine light on and speedo not working change ur VSS (vehicle speed sensor) i replaced it in them all and the engine light went off and the speedo worked right away i need a new one in my accord now haha i just havent got to it yet...
if u have a manual ull need to take ur shift cable bracket off and work around ur shifting cables the sensor is located on the top of ur tranny
its a simple change just remove ur intake and its right there on ur tranny

Have the CEL light checked, it COULD be the VSS as mentioned.
And as justin said it's really easy, 2/3 bolts and it's off.
If the CEL is unrelated, it could be the cluster itself - which a lot of us have had issues with.

Ah just reread that, the VSS should be like a black plug with 2 wires coming from it that sits on the top of the tranny, almost directly below the TB/Dizzy area.
If that connector (wiring harness side) is broken, my suggestion is to hit up a junkyard, lop off the right connector and solder it to the bare wires.

well when ur vss is bad ur chack engine lights always on in two of mine the shaft for the sensor was bent.... so i heated it up and made it straight then cleaned the sensor with carb cleaner and it worked just fine iv had so many problems with the automatics in my accord which is why i sold them and bought a manual which also has the check engine and no speedo which is funny that iv had it in four of my cars
also the part is 135$ so u might wana try giving it a good cleaning but id replace it soon because if u drive it like that too long itll put ur tranny in limp mode if its auto which sucks because ull have only two gears as did my automatic so i went all out replaced ECU and the sensor then gave the car to my father for a gas saver

The CEL could be unrelated to the VSS is what I was suggesting - only way to find out is to have the codes read
If the automatic/manual part you're referring to is about clusters, you could have just had bad luck, there's an epoxy covered section where the joints tend to break that control the signal going to it. Resolder those joints and you're good to go.
OEM VSS is $135 from local dealers, if you go to the Accord FAQ you will find a few OEM sites that will have the parts for less (TAS and HAP).

ya i bought my sensor at auto zone for 135 or something around there iv been told its a comon sensor for the hondas to need replaced after 60k miles the reason mine have never worked is because iv been buying them cheap of people who cant work on them when they have things like broken half shafts but i also what to put an h22 in my new one u wouldnt know if my tranny in my f22a1 would fit an h22a1 would you?
i hear the trany has a male as well as the h22 and idn what id do about that....

The tranny will bolt up fine, the issue comes in with axles. Really just the driver's axle. The halfshafts are different, one is male and the other female. So if you have H22 half shaft, go with H22 axles. F22 half shaft, F22 axles.
ahhhh i see ok im glad someone finally answered that question without telling me i need to go look at the swap section which is 800 pages long.....lol

Ok first thanks for eveyones responses. I did make a mistake it is an ex not lx sorry the first honda that i have ever owned. I would like to try the connector first. I have searched all the junkyards around here and no one has the wiring, they said they just cut them. If any one can find me one i would pay for it plus shipping. Just let me know. Again thanks for all your responses.
