B16 head VS GSR head for and 2000 LS
I have and 2000 LS. I want to put a new head but I dont know which one would be a better swap, Or should I just wait and do a GSR swap? OR any swap? As of right now My car has 117k miles, and it still run good stock. I dont want to do a swap yet because the mileage is somewhat low for a swap. so what do yall think I should do? Swap the head or save up for a swap? Oh yeah how much would an H22 swap cost around?
B16 head would be better than a gsr. But type r will be better than all. Seeing that your ls has low milage, don't do a swap. Just get a b16 tranny and with some mods under the hood. Like intake, intake manifold, headers, good clutch and piping and for sure your car will be a type r killer. CUZ MINE IS.!!

How is a b16 head better then a Gsr? With how close they are, it really comes down to availability and preference.

So spend close to 1k for all that stuff, gain maybe 10 hp, and you need a new clutch?
OP, do this...

The b16 tranny alone with the ls motor gives u a second faster. I went from 15.5 to 14.6 with the tranny at the tracks. Im only speaking from experience. But its up to you. I still say b16 head is much better than gsr. Once again, im only speaking from experience. And I don't care wat anyone else says.....

GSR HEAD out flows the b16, and will add .2 compression, on top of that you will make more power stock for stock with a gsr head.

x2 mistik must be short for mistake because his post is worthless. flow charts exist on both heads, they are virtually the same. the GSR head just has a smaller chamber and different intake port opening. b16 heads are easier to find in my area , not sure about yours. i would use whichever is cheaper. just buy the proper piston for the compression you want. also MEASURE your head if you change the valves or do any port work in the chamber. it will effect the compression greatly.

Hold up a minute...I never said the b16 tranny is better than the type r tranny...I know for a fact the type r tranny is better...1st 2nd and 3rd gears are the same as type r. im just sayin I took out a couple of type r's with my set up. if u have a ls with a b16 tranny u know what im talkin about...

wow you have no idea. not everyone wants to drag race their car. A b16 head and a Gs-r head are equally good. IT all depends on what he wants. If its just for vtec and fun driving I would personally go with the b16. I've owned an LS, b16, b18c, h22,h23 and k20 and they all have their pros and cons.

usdm itrs run 195 to the crank, ls motors run 142 to the crank. i dont see you taking itrs on your setup, especially with a b16 tranny. i call bs on taking ITR's, most ITR owners think rice is rediculous and would rather save their effort along with your embarassment when it comes to street racing.
venture into the ITR forum and and try saying that.

Now im not hating on type r. I love type r!!! </TD></TR></TABLE>
usdm itrs run 195 to the crank, ls motors run 142 to the crank. i dont see you taking itrs on your setup, especially with a b16 tranny. i call bs on taking ITR's, most ITR owners think rice is rediculous and would rather save their effort along with your embarassment when it comes to street racing.
venture into the ITR forum and and try saying that.

I ask because B16's are meant to rev pretty high and I don't see how you can take advantage of the B16 gearing when you're shifting at that low of an RPM. When you shift at that RPM how low does your RPM drop?
I believe a stock ITR will still be in 2nd when your already in 3rd, perhaps ready to shift into 4th.
What gear do you finish 1/4 mile in?</TD></TR></TABLE>
exactly.

But type r will be better than all. Seeing that your ls has low milage, don't do a swap. Just get a b16 tranny and with some mods under the hood. Like intake, intake manifold, headers, good clutch and piping and for sure your car will be a type r killer. CUZ MINE IS.!! </TD></TR></TABLE>
