falken is cheap and good

rt615 for performance
fk452's for performance but with better tread life.

i also recommend nitto and bridgestone, but they are more expensive. these are the only three brands i'd run

stay away from the RT615 Azenis...amazingly fast wear even after they redesigned from the RT215's ..you'll get BEST 7-8k out of them..extremely soft compound tire but amazing traction around a course..

Yeah if you drive around at the threshold of traction all the time. I have 6800 mile on mine and I have more than half the tread remaining.

Extremely soft compound? Compared to what, a 400 tread wear tire? The Si Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 summer tires are 240, the RT-615's are 200. If the RT-615's are extremely soft then what are Toyo Proxes RA1 and R888?

^ Are lowered at all? I'm looking to get a set some time down the line, but I Falken does not make the rt's in the size I want. Do you have any issues with rubbing?

I am at stock ride height. What size are you looking to get? Any wider on the stock size wheels will have diminishing gains. Not all of the tire will be in contact with the road, as it is with the size I have the wheel needs to be a half size wider but I didn't plan on keeping these tires on these wheels for very long. I plan on a 17x7.5 wheel.

I was looking to get a 225/40 to mount on a 17x8. I wanted to get a slightly decreased sidewall to compensate for the increased contact patch.

I was wondering if mounting 225/45 would get some rubbing with those wheels specs on a lowered civic

depends on how low, the camber of the wheels, and what the offset is on the wheels

40 is a 90mm sidewall
45 is a 101.25mm sidewall

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta and I love em! I bought them 18 months ago, drove them through snow, and they'll still last me another year or so. Low Profile and slick looking!
