Well haven't had too much time to work on the car just figured i would throw some pics up of whats finished. Got some minor things to do still aside from retune. I Have just recently purchased an s300 unit with pwn boost option as well.

The end tank without the BOV on it was what the right one used too look like before FTW got hold of it Frank also did the dumptube, new downpipe, and all the brackets for the ic and piping.

 

is that fender from Ryans car ?

Why is your ignition in your vent?

 

I like the ideas for securely mounting the pipes and fmic, but I really don't think the DP maker understands the principal behind condensation ruining oxygen sensors. In no way should it ever face down. The sensors should always be at least a little bit angled from horizontal, perferably between the 10-oclock and 2-oclock possitions.

 

we re did the steering column and i needed to mount it somewhere. As for the wideband, there are plenty of factory o2's that are placed similar to this, we didn't really have to many places to mount it atleast 14" away from the turbo. I don't see this being a big issue.

Its moisture building when the system is off. You have a mixture of co2 and water vapor (the vast majority of exhaust gases) in the exhaust for a long time after turning it off, and eventually that water condenses. Then when the initial 800F gases hit and shock that sensor's very fragile element (more so than a narrowband), it will crack over time. If you read up on sensor placement, you can get away with more than 18". I generally like the spot right after the axles. Gasses move fast enough in a 3" exhaust so that your timing of exhaust events isn't noticably off.

You may get away with that mounting spot for a while, but when the sensor mfg and the wideband controller mfg's all make the same suggestion, you would be wise to heed them.


BTW why did you put the ign cylinder up in the vent?

 

Ok thanks for the response about the wideband. The only reason for mounting the ignition there was we redid the steering column so i needed to put it somewhere.

 

ok guys so the ignition switch won't turn at all. After cutting some unnecary metal off it and re mounting it, pluged everything back in hooked up battery and it still wont turn at all, its like its completly locked. Any way to fix this or shoud i just run a push button?

haha lmao yes you can use a push button to start the car. is this a street car or track only car that will not see the road ?

 

for the most part its gonna be a track car, maybe take it one the street once or twice, cops are fot the most part cool here.

 

you well if you set the kill up to be a push button only without a key. you will want to install a battery kill and alternator kill so you know that the car is completely OFF

 

So i am looking into a switch pannel for my ignition startup. I have been looking at a couple online. Jegs seems to have the one i want. pn 11001.

 

yes a switch panel is recommended but its more for convenience

 

does anyone have any recomendations on a ignition switch panel w/ a push button start? I have a couple in mind but i am open to suggestions and information on some!

no, its 24" and there is alot of room right past the oil pan to have placed the sensor correctly.

and no there are no factory cars with the sensor facing down like that.

my boys, girls 1.8t jetta's 2nd o2 is placed in the same situation as mine.... Needless to say once my first sensor is burned up i will plug that location and have a new bung welded in further downstream in a better location. Thanks for the lookout though.
