92 Accord Question
Hey guys, Im new to the boards and I am having an issue with my accord. Its a 1992 accord. I have had a few occasions where it wouldnt fire up at all when I try to start it, but after 10 or so tries it starts up. Then yesterday, out of no where it dies on the freeway. I pulled over to the side, and after 10-15 tries is starts up and ran fine. It did that 3 seperate times on my drive home. When it dies, it doesnt slowly sputter out, it smoothly just goes off instantly. While it dies, all of my electrical components work fine (radio, lights, blinkers). So anyone have any ideas what could be causing my problem? One of my sensors, fuel filter, fuel pump?
sounds like a problem i had with my 93 it was the distributer ignition module and i was able to buy a brand new dist from an outfit called distributer kink out of new york i think for just over $100 sent to my door cap roter everything and napa wanted like 170 just for the module so i would check that out.

usually from the symptoms you are describing, it could be the main relay. It controls the fuel pump mainly. There are a couple DIY's on other sites, to pop it open and resolder the connections on the inside. This has worked to fix a majority of the cars with the problem. If, it doesn't work, it's time to hit the JY and grab a few of em from there and try em out.

I agree here.
I don't know where it is mounted on the accord but on the civic when this happens you can drop the tilt column with the lever and then slam it back up and the car usually starts. Guess it knocks the relay back into wack.

the main relay is mounted under the dash on the driver side, It's a gray casing with a brown bottom. mounted on with one 10mm bolt. it's pretty big, can't really miss it.

Yeah it is kinda funny.
The way I found out, there was this kid in front of my pool hall in his honda that would not start. I explained to him that mine had done that a couple times and I would do as I mentioned with the tilt....He laughed and tried it. It started right up.
Here is a top view if the main relay.

OP....Let me know....I have this one I can sell you.

I will check the ignition control module, other resources have pointed me in the same direction. Is there a way to tell if its bad, and can someone let me know where it is located exactly?
