^ u should search and not listen to dumb *** autozone workers. And your car should be fine on the 5w-30. I wouold suggest switching to 10w-30 for ur next change.

5w-30 is better than 10w-30

5w is thinner = better during start up. however 5w-30 tends to burn a little faster than 10w-30 if your car burns oil.

Anyways, youll be fine with 5w-30, isnt that what the oil cap says?

No, 10w-30.

It won't hurt, but it'd be better to run 10w-30 considering you're in a warm weather area.

To the OP, you will be OK with 5w for now. Just don't drive the car very hard in warm to hot weather until you switch back.

Obviously you don't own an S2000 so why give advise if you know nothing about the car? 5w is NOT better then 10w, in fact you could very well damage a motor by running oil thinner then recommended. In this case it's not really a big deal but that's not always going to be the case. The cap says 10W30...

Royal purple is a big waste of $$ when it comes to engine oil.
I recommended Amisoil 10w30 synthetic oil myself. You will be fine with any good brand 10w30 oil though. Even the non-synthetic stuff. I personally recommend against Mobil1 in this car!

run the 5w30 this time but next time, run 10w30. theres nothing wrong with running 5w30 but just dont run it everytime. once in awhile is fine. like 1 5w30 change for ever 3 10w30.

Why? There's no advantage to switching it up. I don't get the logic here.

OP..you will be fine. Don't worry about it. Drive the car like you always do.

What's up with all the oil anyalysis on here? Is this S2KI now? I use Mobil1 usually because it's $22.99 at walmart for 5 quarts (I usually have about a quart laying around since the car takes 5.5qts). I've used other stuff as well. I noticed one thing:

It's oil. They all seemed about the same to me. My car didn't burn any of them. M1, Royal Purple, Castrol, etc. whatever. It ran the f'ing same.

I change my oil evert 2 -4 track days (around 2k miles). I burn off around 0.25-0.5 qts per oil change. I think that's negligible enough to be called "burning nothing".

My Si, on the other hand, burns M1...I tried out M1 because I wanted to do 7500mile - 10k mile oil change intervals. It burned about 1 quart of M1 every 2k miles or so. So F that. It's back to regular oil for that car. I put in either Mobil 5000 or valvoline durablend (between $8.99 - 12.99 at walmart for 5 qts.). It burns about 0.5 quarts every 4-5k miles. I do oil changes between 4-5k miles in that car on regular oil.

If you just daily drive your S2000, around 4-5k miles is a pretty good change interval, IMO.

Do you people that use Amsoil's $10/bottle **** use it for the extended drain intervals? Do you track the car a lot? If not, wtf is the point? Even with dinosaur lube and regular change intervals, you'd probably see 200k out of the engine if you're just DDing it or putting around. I guess for all you "fast and the furious canyon carving high performance street drivers", a regular off the shelf synthetic like M1 or syntec or syn power, etc. will be fine if you absolutely want synthetic.

OP...if you DD your car, I'd just use regular *** oil. The car will run fine and last a long time with regular change intervals with dinosaur lube if you're just DDing it. Forget the $7-8 per bottle royal purple ****. It's not quite the best oil for a "race" type oil anyway. If you really want a race quality expensive oil, step up to amsoil. But..ask yourself WTF for before you go buying expensive freaking oil.

What do you use the car for?

1st mistake... dont go to autozone...
2nd mistake... if you go to auto zone, do not ask for their advice... they are some of the biggest morons on this earth... .01% of the people that work there have some common sense...
3rd mistake... asking us if its ok after youve spent $50 on an oil change to see if its ok to use it...

Common sense will take you far in life as long as you remember to use it...

y so... it suits me fine... i still change every 3-3.5K miles... as long as the oil isnt breaking down or burning, its fine by me...

I completely agree... plus sometimes its on sale for $18.88 which is a bargain...

A lot of people have had Mobil 1 burn a lot worse than any other oil in their cars. I havn't personally used it, but I've seen it on here numerous times.
