Default piston to wall with rs machines pistons?

my motor is at the machine shop, and i cant find the manufacturer recommended piston to wall tolerances for my 84.5mm itr pistons. is there one or should i use stock specs condsidering they are cast aluminum like the stock ones?

It depends a lot on the type of duty the motor will see, but for most 1.5~1.6 thou is good ie stock.

is that a good recommendation on a motor that should be seeing some track time as well? ill be installing some rs pistons in my gsr in coming weeks at school.

It depends if you are seeing track time (road racing) with sessions as long as 40 mins then you will need more clearance. I would not go above 1.8 thou. That will give you the ability to take more heat due to extended runs, but you will have more wear and a little less life.

my motor will be daily driven, through nice weather and snowstorms. i might track it a few times, but mostly be driven around 3000-6000 rpms. should i go a little on the smaller side???

Not all alum expands the same.Just call their tech line and find out from them,they are going to know more about their products then we will.

i PMed rsmachines about his pistons and he recommended .0015...84.5mm as well
