Best tires for Spirited Daily Driving?
What would you guys recommend for the S2k? I don't know too much about tire types and I don't really think that going on tirerack and choosing completely by price is a good way!
I want something pretty cheap (less than 150 per tire) that has "pretty good" gripping abilities and decent wear ratings + okay rain performance.

Check out the good year Assurance triple treads. I picked up a set in loo of winter tires because it's still gonna be a couple months til snow falls and I needed a set right away. The guy at discount tire recommended them so I went with the set. What blew me away was the 740 tread rating for the tire. Read some reviews and have seen milage in the 20'ks for spirited drivers. These tires have great gripping power in dry pavement and I still had good traction at speed in the rain. I want to save Falken Azenis rt615s for next summer with a new set of rims.

Go with some Sumitomos HTR III ranked better over then the RE050. I have had a couple of sets and they were great. Since you are in California i can get those for you at wholesale if you would like under 400$ for all 4.

Don't worry, as documented in stickies of every s2k forum, I know damn well about the sizing difference. Also, re01rs are wide for a 225 as well, making it an appropriate choice. 245 would be faster, but are significantly more expensive. I got these used for cheap, otherwise I would have went 225f/245r. Maybe next time I should be more technical, and next time just let me know if I'm wrong, so I can learn from it...
