Wierd exhaust question

Wierd exhaust question
So I'm starting my test pipe right now and looking at the exhaust just after the cat I see something I just don't get. WTF is this?
The 6 inch extruding pipe from the exhaust, why is it there? WTF does it do? It just makes no sense to me... Well anyhoo, more pictures to come after it's done.

weird.
It is actually a pull-up bar for the honda mechanics when the car is on their lifts. Beats paying gym prices
On a serious note, i would assume it is a resignator of some sort for emissions bullshit

Here's the cat at the header flange

o2 sensor before cat
o2 sensor in cat
exhaust
letting the penetrating lube bake in
Some sheild in the cat broke loose and cut my 02 sensor in half. I replaced the front one because a ob2 scanner listed o2 sensor bay 1 as the problem. I'll replace the 2nd o2 sensor later.
70mm test pipe, keepin her turbo ready
