Default Gear Shifter stuck in park and no lights on the dash.

I have a 1995 Accord EX V6 2.7L. What happens is the shifter gets stuck in park and the gear positon light in the dash is not lighted. So I cannot get the key out of the ignition. This mainly happens when it is cold outside and the car is not really warmed up yet. The shifter light works fine for any gear but park. When I get in the car in the morning I can get it out of park fine it is just when I go to get out of the car and I put it in Park. I am then stuck for a couple of minutes till I jiggle the shifter enough and the light comes on.

I know it is not the brake pedal release thing, because I can hear the clicking noise when I tap the brake pedal.

I was maybe thinking the gear position sensor, but why would park be the only problem, and why is it temperature sensitive. This only happens when it is cold outside.

Any Ideas??????

Thanks,

there is a switch that tells the car if its in park or not. jiggling the shifter and being able to get out the key tells me that its going bad.
