Default Timing Help. Trial and Error and Searched. Frustrated!

Ok so after weeks of reading about what to do about my mis-firing problem I decided to re-set the timing on the crank and cam shaft after it had slipped a belt. Me and a buddy of mine ripped into it one morning and got it all back together to find it to run better. The problem is I still have a ECU for random misfires throughout all cylinders. Now if I go beyond 3500 rpms my check engine light gets brighter as I climb the rpms. I hooked a timing gun up to it last week and notice something odd. At first when we hooked up the timing gun the #1 cylinder was firing as the same time the crankshaft was lined up with the markings on the block. But after a couple seconds it would begin firing at a different time. This brought me to the conclusion of maybe my tensinor is loose?? I have no idea but would like to get this problem fixed before it detonates.

Your jumping teeth--get a new spring on your tensioner or make sure that bolt is actually tightened up--easy thing to forget when reinstalling

Alright I'll go home an tear it apart and double check everything cause I know that we had it on TDC. If its not the spring or the tensinor then what could it be??

How new is the belt? and which cylinder are you putting at top dead center when you put it all back together--the fact that the timing changes leads me to believe that you're jumping teeth, do a compression check as well, always a good thing to do to eliminate certain possibilities.
