Ok i've been reading here for a while and i want to peice together my own turbo kit but i can't seem to find any information on specifics. I tried a search but i can't really find the info i want. I would like to know the differences between say a tdo4b or tdo4e and stuff like that. Also i would like some info on IHI turbos and everyones opinions on them. I know nothing about them. If anyone can direct me to a website or give a basic breakdown that would be great thanks.

 

if you know nothing about them, i wouldn't suggest piecing together your own kit. greddy & drag are both great kits and relatively affordable.
anyone have that how stuff works link?

you probably confusing turbos

they're usually TD04 turbos from mitsubishi and then there's T04b's and T04e's from garrett and such. just do a little researching on the basics of turbochargers before u try putting together a kit urself. Or best bet is to buy a kit like greddy (good for the sohc d16 motors)

 

I'm not exactly a newbie here, i just wanted specific differences such as that in the previous post. The above sites i already know about and anybody could figure out how a turbo works in a couple of minutes. I just wanted a site or something with say a comparison of the different garret turbos or garret to ihi turbos and such with flow characteristics. You guys are saying do some research but that is what i am asking i need a couple sites. I am not asking for the all the answers, i am just asking for places for me to go to do the research.

I don't want to go with the greddy kit cause an ls engine is being built as i speak so the small mitsubishi turbo just isn't going to cut it. Also after getting a greddy then intercooler for a couple hundred more i could have gotten a drag kit. Plus it is backordered. The apexi kit i think is overpriced eventhough it is a ballbearing turbo it is still a small one. The drag kit is ok but after upgrading from the crappy turbonetics wastegate to something nicer like a tial and upgradingto ball bearing turbo i could have peiced a different kit together for cheaper and gotten everything i wanted. I have helped put together 3 turbo kits so i would just like some specifics on the turbos that is all. Sheesh i ask for some questions and i am automatically a newb and know nothing and sent packing to the elementary sites. Sorry for the long post but I had to explain myself.
