resonators really help; i'm running 2. a turndown tip on the muffler helps a bit, also.

something i found by accident that helped more than expected was a quarterwave resonator, as can be seen in this pic of an S2K exhaust. it's the random-looking 'nub' before the resonator/cat/muffler in the midsection. yes, i had one welded on; yes, it works.

does that have anything in it or just a hallow nub?.. what diameter compared to pipe sizing?

the nub is hollow, and its diameter is roughly the same or slightly smaller than that of the intersecting tubing.

Destructive interference can be a good thing.

You need to know what frequency you want to remove from the exhaust note, to determine the length of the pipe needed. The reflected sound wave needs to re-enter the primary exhaust tube 180* out of phase with the desired "removal frequency".

And yes, they work. There is nothing inside of the nub, its an echo chamber. Diameter shouldn't matter (other than what percentage of the sound waves enter it), but length does (in terms of what frequency that resonator will cancel).

And man, do I want one of those mufflers. Ti is sex.

all the tanabe exhausts for civics and integras are 60mm which is 2.36 inches. 2.5 inches is 63.5mm.
Edit: and if you are talking about their universal mufflers they only come in 60mm(2.36) or 80mm(3.15)

Im thinking of doing this. Twin dynomax super turbo mufflers in a twin loop design. I just want a 2.5" ehxuast but i want it quiet almost like stock lol. Its my daily driver and my dad is gonna drive it. And if it has a fart can on there it will drive him nuts.

i'm gonna tell you like i tell everyone. you want stock sound with performance then there is only one way to go. full stock jdm itr cat back. 192.5whp with completely stock jdm itr catback and stock jdm itr intake arm and airbox on my lsv. sure could of made another pony or two if i had a real exhaust but man i commute 30mins each way to work and the sound would drive me nuts. plus i live in fremont, ca. you guys that live there knows how bad the 5 0's are with imports. it actually sounds pretty impressive too, it has a deep sound to it.

but really just get a twin loop with 2 resonators. have a SNL twin loop but i decided not to put it on once i realize how much power i made with the itr cat back.

jdm itr header with heat shield...looks completely stock...

its acutally longer since the cat is shorter then the usdm one i believe. i could be wrong. maybe someone else can answer that question.

Yes. Oval type mufflers, vibrant, ES oval, Magnaflow. If you're not running a cat run the biggest resonator possible if you wanna keep noise and raspiness/fartiness noise down.. I had a 2.5 flat black vibrant muffler with 2.5 inch piping and a 22inch magnaflow resonator on previous setup.. Decent sound: deep
