Default B16A minor idling issues, but its annoying..

i have been having this problem for awhile now. although its minor, but i really wanna get it fixed.

driving as usual... press clutch to get car in idle mode (car still moving, but in free gear). rpm drops to approx 1.3, then 1.2, then 1.1 then 1.0.... doesn't drop to the "normal" 0.8.... stays at 1.0 for quite abit.

even when i stop, it idles abt the same as above. turn the air cond on, sometimes can drop to 0.5 or so, but thats when my car ain't moving at all.

shouldn't it drop straight to 0.8 when i hit the clutch? or is that just my imagination?

serviced throttle body, iacv, fitv. had some tuning on the iacv sensor.. along with the distributor.

no changes.

could it be a vacuum leak? if so, how do i check? what else could it be? faulty IACV would give me fluctuating idles right?

running on a b16a2 motor.

please help.

i have here a video of my idle upon startup, i left it on till my engine was warm but it was still the same. however, after driving it for sometime, only then it idles steadily.

sorry for the poor quality, my 2.0 megapixel camera just sux so bad.

Could it be that your throttle cable is adjusted too tight?

just did. it's no where near tight. i can pretty much lift it with my finger, about a centimeter till it starts pulling the throttle.

When the car is in motion i.e. when there is a speed detected, the idle will be high until you stop. The reason is so that the engine doesn't stall out. The IACV will open more than it does for a none moving idle. The car knows your moving and the idle won't go to normal until there is no more vehicle speed detected. What you have is normal, and maybe annyoing

Had the same problem on my b16a1.
after removing the charcoal canister and purge control solenoid valve, I noticed the vacuum line to the solenoid was cracked.

It's plugged now, and no more idle fluctuation.
Just visually check your vacuum lines, or replace all of them. They are quit cheap.

Only on cold start?

Sounds like the fitv.
It should draw in more air, raising the rpm until it reaches the right temp.

Like Ryan#1, it should not fluctuate when the car is not moving, so it is not normal.
You should have a steady +/- 800 rpm.

when i start the car it never cranks, it just shuts off unless i rev it and hold it and like 1k rpm...also when im driving and i put the clutch in the car cuts off.

sometimes it will idle when i start it sometimes it wont, but when i drive it shuts off when i put the clutch in

its a freshly swapped ls/vtec with a b16 head, stock head having about 50k miles on it.
