When upgrading to a higher amp alternator, does anything else have to be done? lower gauge wire? anything?
at my car's age and knowing that its never been changed and the abuse of my new stereo, I am trying to learn about alternators before my OEM one goes out.

Definitely upgrade the alt. charge line, I would also "beef up" the batt. to chassis to engine ground.94
Beef up the battery I'm going to assume means get a better one? Like the optima batteries?
Alt charge line would be the wire going from the alternator to battery.
'to chasis and to engine ground' whats that mean?
.94 of any significance? whats that?
thanks

yes, yes, yes... your power, and grounding cables.
bigger battery..
alt charge line, the cable from the alt. back to the battery.
neg. battery post to chassis ground.
its great you want to upgrade your alternator, but how is all that current going to get through your tiny 70a alt. cable? its not designed for 160+amps of current, and will over time heat up that cable, and could break. let alone start a fire....
