Default Front Door Speakers

okay, i bought new door speakers for my 93 accord. they are Kicker RS5's, 5.25''. so, i take off the door panel, and take out the stock speaker. i notice that the stock speaker plug, or whatever you call it, it a lot bigger than the slot i had on the kickers, so, i took the plug thing off the wires, and just wrapped them around the wires on the new speaker. i turn the key, the new speaker works fine, except that the right side STOCK door speaker sounds a hell of a lot better than the new one i just put in of the drivers side. its a lot louder and has more bass. the new speaker has some bass, but not nearly as much as the stock one, and it sounds a lot quieter than the stock one. im wondering if its the way i hooked up the new speaker, or what?
