I was just doing a little inventory on my DA (LS 91) parts car, the filter box has a small filter mounted in the lid with its own snorkel running up the side of the intake tube towards the manifold
that would seem to pull air from over the block

My GS (91) only has the main filter in the box and a simple lid

Is this a 91 intake?
Is it a warm air intake for cold weather?
Is there a reason to put in on my GS? and thus need to buy a second filter

 

i assume it is a preheater intake like off an old chevy truck. but you shouldnt need it. and idk where you would get that little filter. i have the same on my 93 ls, but i dont have the little tube that comes off the lid

 

that's only for the 92-93 integras, 90-91 integras didn't look like that.

unless I live in the arctic, there is not reason to have the dual intake right?

(I have both kinds, I plan to keep everything that came with the GS on the GS, unless....)

 

honestly i don't know why it's there when i get a chance i'll go ask this guy i know. honda master tech since 1962 but yeah i see no use in it. everyone get's aftermarket intakes anyways right? and if not the 90-91 ones look a whole lot better and clean
